Women’s Day in Rioja – Happy HourZoom
Webinar’s date: March 8, 6:30 PM EST
In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, join Sara d’Amato, Janet Dorozynski DipWSET, and Megha Jandhyala as they explore Rioja’s dynamic female-led wine industry.
For millennia women have been involved in tending to the harvest and participating in Rioja’s winemaking culture. Today, women are taking on such roles as head winemaker, president, export manager, and many other prominent positions, resulting in the region becoming a global leader in gender equalization within the wine industry.
Special guest speakers:
Head Winemaker at Compania Vinicola del Norte de España CVNE
“We are more women in the wine sector, with more responsibility and that is the most important thing”.
CVNE is an historic house, a century-old and an a-priori traditional winery, but in its winemaking department work exclusively women, six, headed by Maria Larrea herself.
Carmen Oros Romeo
Export Manager at Bodegas Faustino
“In the export department of Bodegas Faustino I deal with different people from different countries, but this cultural difference does not interfere with my human approach to negotiation”.
Located in Oyon, Rioja Alavesa, Bodegas Faustino enjoys a well-deserved international reputation after 160 years making and ageing premium wines.
